COVID-19 Update

A message from Tim Lloyd – Managing Director

Wednesday 25th March 2020

It in light of the COVID-19 virus we have taken the Government’s advice to close the Captain’s Club Hotel & Spa from Tuesday 24th March until Wednesday 24th June 2020 (Subject to the Government’s decision as to whether this re-opening date will be acceptable). Any reservation deposits being held for bookings during this period will be carried forward to future bookings and all gift voucher expiry dates will be extended.

If you would like to make an advanced reservation at this time then please do so directly on the hotel website www.captainsclubhotel.com. The team will not have access to phone lines during this closure and very limited access to emails and for this we thank you for your understanding.

On behalf of all the hotel crew we send you our very best wishes, thank you for all your support and very much look forward to re-engaging with you when we return to the office.

If you have any URGENT concerns, then please contact the email address info@captainsclubhotel.com and we will get back to you as soon as practically possible.

The safety and wellbeing of our crew members is of utmost importance to us. Given the current situation, we have been forced to close the hotel with immediate effect.

We had thought it would be possible to continue to look after those who stay with us week after week, but having been told we are unable to provide room service, it is now impossible for us to look after our guests in the way we would like.

Thanks to funding from the government, we are delighted to be able to support our crew members with continued employment through these uncertain times.

We would like to thank all our loyal customers for your kind words of support. We very much look forward to welcoming everybody back to the hotel once we re-open.

In the meantime, please look after yourselves and stay safe.

Following the Prime Minister’s briefing yesterday we have closed our Restaurant/Bar  until further notice. We have been constantly monitoring and adhering to the daily updates and advice from Downing Street to ensure the health and well being of both our teams and guests during this time, but it is clear that it is no longer safe to have large numbers of guests gathering in our restaurant/bar area and we feel it is our responsibility to be part of the solution in stopping the spread of this virus.

We are also closing the CCSpa with immediate effect. If you have an existing booking you should shortly receive a call from us with a personal update. If for any reason you don’t hear from us within the next couple of days please email enquiries@captainsclubhotel.com and our reception team will be happy to answer any of your questions.

We hope that all of our guests stay safe and well during this difficult time and  we want to assure you that as soon as permitted, our bar, restaurant and spa will reopen.

Thank you all for your support and cooperation at this time.

I am sure you have seen that the Government has issued updated guidelines which we are digesting and adopting on a daily basis. The latest advice is to avoid restaurants and bars without specifying a ban on these venues so until instructed otherwise, we will be remaining open and welcoming guests into our hotel, bar and lounge whilst all the time upholding the strictest health and hygiene measures.

We will continue to provide you with updates as we receive new information from Downing Street and work out the best way forward in these times, both for our guests and our teams.

Our top priority is to keep you as safe as possible if you choose to stay, drink and dine with us.

We are doing our utmost to ride out this uncertain and difficult global crisis and look after our dedicated team of people to ensure our hotel can and will provide you with a warm welcome.

With kindest regards,

Tim Lloyd
