About us

Charities and community

We're proud to help a number of our favourite local charities through fundraising and event sponsorship.

Macmillan Caring Locally

Over £30,000 raised to date in 2024 and we are delighted to announce that we have become a Golden Partner with the charity to help them celebrate their 50th anniversary.

Our favourite local charity, Macmillan Caring Locally is a cause close to our hearts and raises much needed funds for the Macmillan Unit at Christchurch Hospital which is a Specialist Palliative Care Unit and Hospice for patients in South East Dorset and South West Hampshire. The charity, Macmillan Caring Locally, works in partnership with University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust to provide the services at the Macmillan Unit and in the community. The unit is supported and funded by Macmillan Caring Locally providing an exceptional standard of care and a homely environment for patients, their families and visitors. The charity also provides nursing and medical equipment to improve patient treatment and comfort.

Our 'Great Big' Coffee Morning for Macmillan Caring Locally will be back on Wednesday 18th September from 9am until 11.30am.

Ebb and Flo Row 2024

1 Boat | 4 People | 3000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean.

Our very own Sally, has decided to take on the challenge of a lifetime and at the end of 2024 will embark on a 3000 mile row across the Atlantic Ocean in the World's Toughest Row.

It is an incredible adventure and we are delighted to be the official sponsor of Sally's oars that will be used for the row, in addition to that we have also pledged to help her raise the funds to enable her to do the race and then donate to the following charities - the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, Blesma and St Jame's Place Children's foundation.

For those of you who don't know Sally, she is a keen rower at her local Rowing Club in Christchurch. She has competed in various Coastal Four races as Womens Juniors and Masters and won the South Coast Championships at Dorney lake. Before taking up rowing she was a sailor and part of a crew based in Southampton, taking on various voyages such as The Fastnet Race, round the Island and the Classics Regatta in St Tropez. Her favorite was crossing the Atlantic, one of her memorable achievements.

Sally has been part of the Captain's Club crew since we opened the doors 17 years ago and we are thrilled to be supporting her, Julie, Mary and Ed on this journey.
