Visitor Charge

Business Improvement District levy

Accommodation Business Improvement District levy to help the tourism industry has been introduced for eligible Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Accommodation Providers and will come into force from 1st July 2024, similar to a city or tourist tax that you may find abroad, and it is not included in your booking at present. This means that you will need to pay £2 per room (exc VAT), per night which will be collected at the hotel on your arrival. The levy will be charged for every room and cannot be waivered for any reason.

All the money collected will go to the Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Accommodation BID.

This money will be spent on placemaking which will help us continue to provide green, clean, and safe places. It will help to fund and create events for our conurbation like the Air Festival, Arts by the Sea, Poole Christmas Maritime, Christchurch Food Festival and Christmas Tree Wonderland just to mention a few, which we hope guests can enjoy all year round.

It also means that we will have the opportunity to create marketing campaigns for the tourism industry to make sure our conurbation can thrive and to continue to provide much needed jobs within our industry.
