It’s times like this that make us realise just how powerful social media can be. It keeps us connected with one another, updated on the latest goings on, and, above all, can transport us to some of the most beautiful places in the world.

With the majority of us confined to our homes for a little while longer, we thought we’d bring some beautiful photographs of our home county to you. Here are some of our favourite Instagram shots of Dorset.

This is the time of year when I’m normally spending 4/5 hours a day scouting bluebell woods, preparing for the magical few days of bloom. It looks unlikely that I’ll be able to shoot during my favourite season this year, but fingers crossed they’ll be even better come 2021. So, here’s a re-edit from 2018 when I spent my first morning alone, shooting the bluebells – an experience that has since made me OBSESSED with this magical season.

Normally at this time of year, we would be out searching for the most magical displays of bluebells. It’s one of our favourite things we look forward to in springtime, but for now, we’ll have to make do with this stunning throwback from a few years ago. We love how the sun’s rays have broken through the trees to highlight those vibrant purples on the forest floor.

    This place is so near! But so far. This was a lovely start to the day back in September. #christchurch #dorset #lovemudeford #lovexchurch #igersdorset #visitdorsetofficial #visitdorset #lovefordorset #exploredorset #capturingbritain #photosofbritain #scenicbritain

This stunning snap was taken right here in Christchurch. The whole scene looks so wonderfully peaceful, and those fabulous orange hues contrast perfectly with the greenery around the water’s edge.

    Durdle Door looking mighty as ever😍 I'm keen to get back here sometime this year for some more astrophotography🌌 This was a photo that I took almost 2 years ago, thought everyone would enjoy seeing it again✌🏻 . . . . #nightsky #ig_nightphotography #astrophotography #universetoday #nightscape #fs_longexpo #jurassicmags #swisbest #uk_greatshots #milkywaygalaxy #stargazing #ukshooters #longexposure_shots #exploredorset #visitengland #igworldclub_astrophotography #artofvisuals #nikon #ig_thisworld #milkywaychasers #nightscaper #gloriousbritain #southerncollective #ukpotd #longexpolite #adventuredorset #uk_nightphotography #uk_spinners #durdledoor

A trip to Dorset wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Durdle Door. The formation of rocks is truly majestic, and as this photo demonstrates, on a starry night the scene looks all the more enchanting.

I know how to spend my Friday evening 😂 …taking pictures on the Jurassic coast! 👌 Drove down to Old Harry rocks after work to spend the evening getting a shot of these stacks. My kinda Friday night. 😅👌🙌 📷: Mavic 2 Pro 👓: Hasselblad 28mm ƒ/2.8 💡: 1/100” ISO100 ƒ/5.6 ⏳: N/A 🌎: Old Harry Rocks, Dorset

Another iconic landmark in Dorset is Old Harry Rocks. We love how vibrant the colours are in this photo, with the white cliffs contrasted against the green fields and deep blues of the sea.

    Beach Huts . . An evening down at Hengistbury Head with local photographers for Summer Solstice organised by @tomormerod . It was so nice to meet the people behind the cameras! We have so many talented photographers in Dorset!! . . . . . . #visitdorset #lovefordorset #scenicbritain #exploredorset #lovedorset #dorset #dorsetlife #dusk #sunset #sunsetlover #goldenhour #sunsetbritain #ukreal #lovebournemouth #hengistburyhead #beachhut

This scene at Hengistbury Head is a true picture of tranquility. Those pastel-coloured skies are simply dreamy, and remind us of hazy summer days and balmy evenings. We can’t wait to experience them again later this year.

If you’re planning on joining us in Dorset later this year, be sure to visit these beauty spots during your stay. And don’t forget to share your snaps with @captainsclubhotel on Instagram!
