Hotel Director Chris Bradfield and skipper of the ‘Nauti Girl’ has been responsible for setting up boating services at the hotel and has great knowledge of the local waters. He will be available in advance of your trip to provide the best options for you, all to ensure that you have an excellent boating experience.
Firstly, ‘Nauti Girl’ is fully licensed, MCA coded, to carry eight guests and also two crew - a skipper and a steward. The steward, as a crew member is on board to assist throughout the day and help the skipper in looking after you and your guests. Our cruising options are also available to Hotel non residents and we are always delighted to prepare
a special arrangement for a loved ones ‘surprise cruise’

Our cruising options usually begin from the Hotels own mooring on the banks of the River Stour in Christchurch. The river is tidal and we have two tides per twenty four hour period. A typical day aboard begins at leisure say after breakfast at the hotel, tide dependant, or if breakfast is required it can also be served on board. After a short safety briefing we set sail with a ‘morning meander’ up river with a serving of tea, coffee, juices and chef’s fresh pastries whilst you sample life on the river and the delights of the immediate area, in particular the plentiful wildlife on Stanpit Marsh.
We continue to cruise gently down through Christchurch Harbour and past Mudeford Quay and then out into Christchurch Bay to begin your sea adventure (cruise time 35 minutes).
You can then cruise across the bay and travel south of the Isle of Wight to approach the Needles on the Starboard (right hand) side (cruise time 25 mins). We will navigate close to the Needles for a spectacular photographic opportunity and if the weather is fitting, we will manoeuvre to the starboard side of Needle point and anchor in what is known to local fisherman as ‘Scratchells Bay’. Here there is a secret cove which smugglers used to hide contraband and also a small beach which is only accessible by boat, if the tide is right we will anchor there, maybe for a glass of chilled champagne?
It is possible at varying points throughout the day to take a swim, we have eight large bath towels at your disposal and a warm fresh water shower, with toiletries from our spa, is also available off the bathing platform on the back of the boat.
From Scratchells bay you can then continue around to Alum Bay to see the cliffs as they meet the beach and with their coloured sands and limestone which has made Alum Bay so famous, again there is an opportunity stop to take photographs (cruise and anchoring time 20 mins)
You can then continue around to nearby Yarmouth (distance 20mins only) and head into the Harbour where we can arrange for a mooring to enable you and your guests to take a stroll around the harbour. Yarmouth is really quite delightful and you can see the small shops and take in life in this busy little harbour town. (time allowed on shore 45mins)
